האומנם טירונים בהוראה? מניעים ומסוגלות עצמית של הבוחרים בהוראה כקריירה שנייה

The research is based on the expanding trend of unique teacher education programs. It is a mixed-method study aiming (1) to explore the motives of three groups from the Graduate Retraining Program (GRP) that opted for teaching as a second career, and (2) to measure their self-efficacy. The research population comprised 82 participants from three specialized teacher education programs. The tools included a closed self-efficacy questionnaire, a semi-structured motivation questionnaire, and interviews. The findings demonstrated that the participants ׳ motives reflected mainly psychoideological aspects. They further revealed three efficacy dimensions relating to teaching tasks (TT), teacher-student relations (TSR), and influence in the organization (IO). The TT dimension was the highest while the IO dimension was the lowest. A clear difference among the groups was reflected in the TT dimension. The research expands the decisionmakers ׳ viewpoint as regards the benefit of unique teacher education paths in assisting the absorption of academics into teaching as a second career.
