Poems in Black Ink" is the title of a literature seminar that was given at a college" of education. The seminar dealt with Oriental Jewish literature. The article describes the progression of the course and discusses the following questions: (1) What is Orientalism? (2) What is Oriental Jewish literature? (3) What is Oriental Jewish feminism? and mainly, (4) In what manner were the topics and the literary texts that exemplify them accepted by the students? The article describes literature's contribution to the formation of the individual's personal and professional identity as regards issues associated with origin and color, and concludes with a discussion of the exclusion of Oriental Jewish literature from .the curriculum
